Abstract
Citizenship is one of the most important subjects of private international law in terms of granting it and who has the right to acquire and enjoy it. Therefore, many countries regulated granting the citizenship according to bases and certain criteria including granting it on the basis of right of blood. Despite the argument about the right of the children for having citizenship basing on mother’s blood, the legal and jurisprudential position supported this right, and the right of the blood descended from the mother has the same power as that of the father’s blood in granting the citizenship, and this position was supported by international conventions. So, the role of the mother has become equal to the role of the father in terms of her qualification to pass on citizenship to her children directly and by law.
