Researcher Journal for Legal Sciences is a peer-reviewed scientific journal issued by the College of Law at the University of Fallujah. Its establishment came after a long and thoughtful process, as it was intended to serve as a rigorous academic and research platform, and a hub for intellectual contributions penned by leading legal scholars and specialists—who, with the ink of their pens and the power of their ideas, pave the way toward legal knowledge and scholarship.
The founders of the journal were driven by two primary goals:
First, to implement the legal and academic requirements for launching peer-reviewed scientific journals as outlined by the Department of Research and Development at the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Second, to form an editorial board composed of prominent scholars with national, regional, and international reputations. The board includes a select group of legal scholars and law professors from various Arab and foreign countries, in addition to professors from across Iraqi universities—not limited solely to those at the College of Law in Fallujah. Accordingly, a careful look at the editorial board reveals the presence of faculty members from French, Algerian, Jordanian, and Emirati universities, as well as from Iraqi universities such as the University of Babylon, University of Tikrit, and the Iraqi University, representing a wide range of legal specializations. This diversity ensures the journal’s academic integrity and supports its pursuit of scholarly excellence.
The editorial board and the journal’s management have committed themselves to advancing the journal into international academic databases. They are steadily working toward fulfilling the requirements for inclusion in the Scopus database, in order to enhance the journal’s global reputation and establish it as a trusted venue for publishing legal research from around the world.
In line with the academic requirements for journal establishment, Al-Bahith has obtained both the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) for its print edition (2706-5960) and its electronic edition (2706-5979). It has also received a deposit number from the Iraqi National Library and Archives: No. 2049 of the year 2020. The journal published its first issue of Volume 1 in 2020 after meeting all legal and academic conditions.
As previously mentioned, RJLS is a peer-reviewed semi-annual journal focused on publishing specialized research in the field of law and its various branches. Its key objectives include:
The journal accepts original scholarly and intellectual contributions in three languages: Arabic, French, and English. It also welcomes legal commentaries on rulings issued by supreme courts—whether ordinary, administrative, or constitutional—in Iraq or other countries, especially those that have an impact on the dissemination of legal culture and awareness in society.
The journal operates under a rigorous academic framework, applying a strict and credible evaluation system to ensure objective, impartial, and transparent assessment of submissions—entirely free from personal bias or influence. All journal issues are published on the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) platform, managed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq.
